No, this is not your usual math magic trick. There is no calculations to be made, a person only has to think of a number and there you are reading his mind and be able to tell the correct number he was thinking. Your friends will be astounded and never would have thought you could read minds so well.
Prepare a mechanical pencil. Break the lead at about one and a half inch in length. After you have broken a piece, get a tape and tape that broken piece at the back of your thumb nail. Make sure it is secured tightly with the lead sticking out of your thumb nail just half an inch or so. This is all the preparation you will be doing.
Next step is to show your amazing trick to a friend. Be sure to bring a mechanical pencil with a notebook with you and of course the lead sticking securely on your thumb nail. Now ask for a volunteer and then tell them to think of a number, it could be a single digit, two or even three. Then ask them to focus real hard on the number they have chosen.
Pretend to write your prediction of the number on your notebook while they are focusing intensely on their number. Then tell them you have successfully read their mind and have written down the number they have chosen. Then let them hold your mechanical pencil.
When the volunteer is holding your pencil, ask him what number he chose. You can then spin a story of how you have read their mind and know the number they have chosen, you can even ask why they have chosen that particular number.
All these would just be misdirection while you actually write down with the lead taped on your thumb, the number the volunteer has told you.
You then show them what number you have written down. They will be awed and impressed and as ling as you practice it well, they will never know when you have written the number at the end.
