They call it stupid magic trick for some reason but it is not stupid at all, this Sum Trick I happen to stumble upon. Well some numbers do not work for this trick but you can get around that. This is, obviously, another math magic trick where you let a volunteer choose three numbers from 1-9 but the first number should be higher than the third one and always, they will get the result of 1089.
When the volunteer has chosen three numbers, you subtract the reverse of that three number from the original three. So in the video, an example given is 983 and the reverse would be 389. You subtract 389 from 983 which equals to 594. Again, reverse the order of the total and add them up, you will get 1089. There you go, another math magic.
But, yes there is a but, it does not work with certain order of numbers as I have found out. If you let the volunteer choose the three numbers with the first higher than the third number, if he chooses a first number only one number higher than the last, then you will not get the same result – like if you choose 271 or 978. The 2 is only one number higher than 1 (that's very obvious) and the same with 9 and 8. So when you let your volunteer choose, just make sure they do not choose numbers in this order. Enjoy another Math magic.
